Juan C. Paredes, MD

Dr. Juan Carlos Paredes has been practicing psychiatry and behavioral medicine for more than 18 years at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
After earning his medical degree from Universidad del Valle, Colombia, Dr. Paredes completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. He continued his training with a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Miami.
Dr. Paredes specializes in psychopharmacology, neuropsychiatry, memory and sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, smoking cessation, stress management, and sexual medicine for men. He also is an expert on electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), a treatment he offers to counter resistant, severe depression in patients who do not respond to traditional methods.
Dr. Paredes takes a comprehensive medical approach to evaluating patients and provides the best-individualized treatment. His goal is to empower his patients to achieve emotional balance, adopt healthier habits, and obtain a sustainable, clinical response with very rational use of psychiatric medications when needed.

Maria del Pilar Solano, MD

Dr. Maria del Pilar Solano is a practicing endocrinologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.
After receiving her medical degree in Cali, Colombia, and completing her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Solano secured a fellowship in Endocrinology at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami. Dr. Solano performed clinical research during her fellowship to investigate the relationship between activity in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and insulin resistance in obese patients. She also holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Miami.
Dr. Solano joined the University of Miami faculty in 2000, where she focuses her research on diabetes and its effects on the vascular system. In addition to her teaching and mentoring duties, Dr. Solano also advocates for diabetes education.
